2024-10-04 07:09:05 A new cultural venue for the young generation called Third Space, which is expected to serve ideas and experiments in different disciplines, was launched this Thursday by the organization Archa+. With this he opened a new season in the hall previously known as Teatro Archa. Concerts, debates and workshops will be offered to the public. According to program curator Štěpán Kubišta, the Czech Republic lacked a cultural institution focused on topics of interest to young people. “After Ondřej Hrab asked me to come up with a concept for the continuation of the Archa Theater with the commission of something different from the current theater, I was already playing with the idea that none of the large theaters in Prague are dedicated to the younger generation “, he describes. According to Kubišta, specific topics that this target group likes or is interested in include, for example, gender, innovation, artificial intelligence or ecology. They want to focus on them. But the third space is not just for young people. Kubišta would like them to be involved in the creation too. “Our goal is to create an auxiliary, organizational and spatial structure, into which we will also attract projects that young people will implement on their own,” he says. An example of such a project can be the first major theater premiere, which Archa+ is preparing for the end of October. “We launched an open invitation in which we proposed young people to send us a video in which they say why they love theater, what they like and why they would like to be involved. We found several hundred videos from which the authors of the production chose several dozen of people with whom he continuously creates shows, some will also perform in them,” adds Kubišta. The space is managed by Jindřich Krippner, according to whom the idea of ​​the project is to “be an expert” of the young generations in all possible fields, but through culture. “The goal is not only to represent young people, but also to encourage them to approach culture,” he adds. The Archa Theater was directed by Ondřej Hrab for many years. Its last season was closed last year on December 18 and 19 by Japanese dancer Min Tanaka. From this year the space is called Archa+ and its management is entrusted to Kubišta, who has managed the New Stage of the National Theater in Prague since 2014 and subsequently manages the Jatka78 complex in the Holešovice market or the seasonal bar Přístav 18600 and the Fuchs2 club . On the site the operators describe Archa+ as multifunctional and multicultural, aimed at young people. This Friday there will be a concert by the Irish folk quartet Lankum, followed on Saturday by the celebration of the 80th birthday of the Czech poet and underground figure Ivan Martin Jirous.
