Richest Dutch are getting richer, Bunq boss adds most assets October 29, 2024 Charlene de Carvalho-Heineken at the Zandvoort Grand Prix last year. Photo: Robin Utrecht ANP The richest Dutch are getting richer, despite last year’s economic slowdown, according to the latest edition of the Quote 500 rich list . Business magazine Quote puts the total wealth of the top 500 at €252.7 billion, some 5% up on a year ago. That, the magazine points out, is well above both economic growth of 0.2% and inflation of 4.1% in 2023. Charlene de Carvalho-Heineken, heir to the Heineken fortune, remains at the top of the list, with assets of €12 billion, but this is down 4% on 2023. In fact, Quote calculates, 60 people in the ranking saw their assets go down. Adriaan Mol, founder of payment processor Mollie, lost at least €1.5 billion while Jitse Groen (Thuisbezorgd/Just Eat Takeaway) and René Moos (Basic-Fit) were also hit by falling share prices. The big winner was Bunq director Ali Niknam who added €800 million to his fortune after making a clever IT investment in Belgium. That takes his total wealth to €2.5 billion and pushes him up the list from 28th to 12th place, Quote says. Niknam is one of the 52 billionaires on the list. To qualify for inclusion, you need at least €130 million in assets. The top 5 Ralph Sonnenberg (Hunter Douglas): €7 billion Remon Vos (real estate investor CTP): €6 billion Gérita and Inge Wessels (construction group VolkerWessels): €5.4 billion Wijnand Pon (Pon Holdings): €4.5 billion The Brenninkmeijer family (C&A) remains the richest family on the list with €22 billion but this is down 11% on last year. The Van der Vorms are the second richest family, with their assets via Hal Investments put at €8.4 billion. Retail families De Rijcke (Kruidvat) and Dreesmann (V&D) are in third and fourth place. Among the celebrities included on the list is r acing driver Max Verstappen in 322th place with assets of €210million, up 40% from a year ago. Royal widow Mabel van Oranje-Nassau is in 121st place with €455 billion, a rise of 38%, due in part to her investments in payment processor Adyen. DJ Tiësto is said to be worth €205 million, up nearly 8% on last year.
