From patient data exchanges to developer toolkits, these vendors are working across tech markets to make healthcare data more accessible.
Healthcare data has been notoriously siloed and incompatible among health systems — and sometimes even among providers in the same system.
Thanks to the 21st Century Cures Act, which added specific requirements for data sharing and costly penalties for non-compliance and data blocking, these healthcare data silos are finally collapsing.
The result is a whole new ecosystem of interoperability tech vendors helping to make the data more usable. These technologies enable data integration, access, and exchange at scale.
As a result, patients have more ownership of their own health records, medical researchers gain access to massive deidentified datasets, and hospitals can bring outside data into an EHR.
Using CB Insights data, we identified 87 data interoperability companies addressing 7 technology priorities for healthcare providers, from tools for exchanging and aggregating patient data to the full stack platforms enabling the development of new interoperable tools and apps.
