Music Ally Much has been written about the culture and direction of the company formerly known as Twitter since tech mogul Elon Musk bought it. And much has been written about the alternatives, Threads, Mastodon, Bluesky and more. Now the latter has made a big announcement: it now has more than 13 million users, and has raised $15m of Series A funding to continue its growth. “With this fundraise, we will continue supporting and growing Bluesky’s community, investing in Trust and Safety, and supporting the ATmosphere developer ecosystem,” said the company . ATmosphere being its open, decentralised protocol for social applications, which is core to Bluesky’s philosophy. “In addition, we will begin developing a subscription model for features like higher quality video uploads or profile customizations like colors and avatar frames,” added Bluesky in its announcement, while taking a pop at X: “We won’t uprank accounts simply because they’re subscribing to a paid tier.” Bluesky is also planning to build “payment services for people to support their favorite creators and projects” in the future.
